4 out of 5 stars Great product, shame about the quality   January 2, 2009
The Rubik's cube is one of the best and most enduring puzzles of all time. Unfortunately, the build quality of this particular version is not too great; the cube feels a little flimsy and the stickers are misaligned. However, it's hard not to recommend this product despite these issues.

1 out of 5 stars Great fun, but rubbish quality. Not worth the 10 pounds   December 28, 2008
I have had several non-original Rubik's Cube over the years. Decided to buy an "original" Rubik's Cube as a Christmas treat. Wish I didn't waste my money. The quality is horrid. The stickers are peeling off after 2 days of careful use, and the whole thing is starting to feel loose. Total rip-off for the price.

5 out of 5 stars Rubik's Cube...Its a Puzzle   December 9, 2008

One of today's modern day mysteries, a puzzle that has stood the test of time and has now been integrated into our modern pop culture, i refer of course to the Rubik's Cube. Created in 1980, the Rubik's Cube (Originally called The Magic Cube) is a straight forward, 3D puzzle. There are 6 sides, green, yellow, red , orange, white and blue, your goal is to make all 6 sides their complete corresponding colour. Once you have purchased your Cube you'll notice that the Cube is already solved on all 6 sides but now the time has come, you must scramble your cube. During most of the time after its release only 1/3 of the Earths population that had bought a Rubik's Cube had actually solved it. But for the other 2/3 their cube's remained unsolved.

This product is a great present for anyone who loves puzzles or for anyone who doesn't already own one. This particular one comes with a rather nice stand to show off your cube when its finished and a 7-step booklet on how to solve a Rubik's Cube so you won't have to peal off the stickers.

How much fun?: This toy is a lot of fun and can provide hours/months of enjoyment to anyone who is patient.

Educational Value: Though the Cube isn't that mathematical it certainly requires a lot of logic puzzle solving and requires you to think in order to solve it.

Durability: Its not the best quality Cube in the fact that the stickers do, with constant use, come off eventually and there are cubes you can get that with tiles not stickers. But still the stickers don't come off in days like people say they take years, and the cube doesn't just fall apart either.

Overall this is a great puzzle and, for me, years of entertainment at a very cheap price. Once you've solved this try the bigger and badder challenge in the Rubik's Cube family, The 4x4 Rubik's Revenge Cube.

ADDITIONAL: After you've solved the cube you probably will want to speed solve the Rubik's Cube in which case i suggest you do the following:

Turn the top layer of your cube at a 45 degree angle and pry out the center piece. Then pull out the subsequent other 2 pieces. Now get a jar of Vaseline and apply some to the gaps in the cube. Reassemble the cube and do this to the rest of the cube. Now twist all the cubes sides and you should now find your cube moves like a dream :).

Happy Solving!

4 out of 5 stars Original entertainment. Not original product   December 4, 2008
The Rubik's cube has not failed to be a recurring feature of most households albeit it is well known to cause anger, frustration and despair. As a result of my discovery of an original '80s octagonal-based prism Rubik's cube lying around in my home, I decided to purchase an 'original' Rubik's cube at a local toy shop.

Whilst providing excellent levels of brain training this little toy broke after only two days of use (the blue centerpiece snapped off). It would seem therefore that the Rubik's brand have cocked up the design and left the core extremely vulnerable to damage.

A fun toy but whatever you do...don't drop it.

5 out of 5 stars The classic mathematical puzzle of this planet.   November 28, 2008
Rubik's Cube came out around 1980, about 30 years ago.

People were far more intelligent back then.

There is very little point anyone today bothering with a Rubik's Cube. Just forget it and get back to reality TV and txtng each other.

For people over 40: The physical mechanism of these 2000 era cubes is probably not as good as the old ones: at any rate, they are a little different. Obviously the platonic cube is unchanged.

There are now various idiotic cubes with flashing lights, etc - suitable for Today's People.
